Americans for Fusion
Powering the Future and Securing Energy Dominance
Our Mission
Americans for Fusion is committed to winning the global race for commercial fusion energy.
By making fusion a core part of America’s energy strategy, we can strengthen national security, fuel AI innovation and usher in a new era of American prosperity and leadership. This is America’s race to win—and we cannot afford to lose.
Investing in fusion energy is essential to American economic competitiveness. Winning the race against China for commercial fusion technology must be a national priority. Abundant, affordable and reliable fusion will supercharge our energy dominance and power the economy with American-made fusion power.

America can lead the development and deployment of fusion, but the window is closing.
Energy independence and economic growth are inextricably linked. The commercial development of fusion will supercharge the President’s goal of delivering a “Golden Age of America” – particularly when it comes to fueling American AI leadership. President Trump has always fought for American energy dominance. Advancing fusion technology is the next step to secure U.S. leadership, independence and prosperity. Americans for Fusion is committed to building support for the Administration and Congress to prioritize fusion, putting its deployment at the forefront of American energy innovation.
America Must Win the Fusion Race
For America to win, our commitment to fusion must be stronger and more strategic. China has made rapid advances as it aggressively seeks to rewrite the global energy order. China is robustly out-investing America 2:1 in the research and development of commercial demonstration projects, as well as in building the supply chain and workforce needed to develop fusion technology. China is playing to win, the U.S. is not. The U.S. is at risk of falling permanently behind, ceding fusion leadership – and its economic benefits – for decades to come. President Donald Trump and Congress can’t let that happen.

About Fusion
Fusion is the ultimate form of energy dominance. Fusion harnesses the process that powers the stars to unleash a nearly limitless supply of reliable, affordable energy.
In fusion, hydrogen fuses together to generate enormous amounts of energy that is then converted into electricity. Fusion power plants can run continuously, generating an abundance of energy that will power critical American industries. Unlike other energy sources, fusion is not constrained by geography or weather and has no long-lived, highly radioactive waste products. Thanks to actions by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission and Congress, fusion power can be built quickly and safely.
American companies are currently the leaders in commercial fusion development, making monumental advances in fusion technology. Some aim to deploy power plants within the next 5-10 years. However, commercialization is a capital-intensive process. Joint public and private investment is critical to driving deployment and scaling fusion power in the U.S. and around the world.
Why Fusion?

Advances American Energy Dominance and Affordability
Affordable and abundant energy is the lifeblood of the American economy and critical to our high quality of life. Fusion is the future. With the promise of almost limitless energy, developing commercial fusion is critical to securing American energy dominance in the 21st century.

Strengthens American National Security
Advancing fusion is a national security priority with immense geopolitical and economic implications. With China spending big on fusion, the U.S. can’t afford to fall behind. Federal investment in fusion, which is needed to drive more private investment, will help to ensure the world’s energy future is shaped on American terms.

Fuels American AI Innovation and Global Leadership
Artificial intelligence is altering the course of modern civilization, but progress is constrained by inadequate power supply. Fusion fills this gap, providing the virtually unlimited energy required to fuel the U.S. economy and propel America forward in the global race for AI dominance.

Take Action
In the race to unlock fusion energy, the stakes are enormous. The nation that succeeds first will secure an abundant supply of affordable, reliable and homegrown power. Fusion means long-term energy security, economic growth and the ability to meet AI’s soaring demand for electricity–fueling American technological leadership in the 21st century. Now is the time for the President and Congress to prioritize fusion.
The Stakes Couldn’t Be Higher.
Here’s What’s Next:
-
Propel fusion commercialization with a one-time, $10 billion federal allocation targeted toward fusion commercialization, leveraging more private capital and American entrepreneurs.
-
Realign current federal programs and increase funding for the Milestone-Based Fusion Development program to propel deployment.
-
Implement novel legislation to accelerate fusion development and commercialization to assert global American energy dominance.

TIME: Why the AI Industry Is Betting on a Fusion Energy Breakthrough
When Sam Altman arrived at Helion Energy’s small Redmond, Wash., office in early 2014, nuclear-fusion textbooks tucked under his arm, the company was focusing its efforts on research and development. By the time he left, several days later, he had persuaded the fusion-energy startup to chart a more aggressive path toward deployment, CEO David Kirtley recalls.

KRQE: Pacific Fusion opening manufacturing facility in Los Lunas
LOS LUNAS, N.M. (KRQE) – A billion-dollar fusion energy company is planning to put down roots in Albuquerque. Now, the neighboring Village of Los Lunas is also expected to be a key player in that fusion company’s work. “It’s going to be monumental and transformative for our community,” said Victoria Archuleta, Senior Economic Developer for the Village of Los Lunas.
